June/July 2024 - Sofa and Splashbacks

Tom

The van is basically there now and we are starting to slow down on the updates. So the last couple of months we had decided to get some bits installed ready for the first long test run down to Ellen's Folks' place in the French Pyrenees.

The main pic (above) is of a dry fit of the seat cushions turned round to form a sofa. Turns out that I had actually considered this possibility when working out the seat dimensions. So happily the cushions fit perfectly! So with that in mind I found an offcut from the incorrectly built first worktop and just cut it to size, and bored out some holes so it could slide down by the gas locker out of the way. Then added some supports for this piece to slide in the seats and form the sofa. Yeah its not the prettiest but it gives us another seating option.

We've also now finsihed the peel and stick splashback around the kitchen area with some white painted trim and the cover for the fuse box now completed properly. The other thing you'll see is I've finally installed the shower into the back so we can wash off any mud or sand at beaches etc in future.

It's now ready for it's first big outing!
