Week 12 & 14 - Lights, Gas locker, Shower!

Tom

Realise that we missed last week so here’s a double update for you.

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks though it doesn’t necessarily look like it at a first glace.

We have the gas locker installed and wiring for the shut off solenoid plumbed in. Also we now have some great under cabinet lights installed. All custom cut and soldered for us by LED Space Lighting, spot on as-ordered and look awesome (A lot better than the cheapo ones off Amazon).

We’ve also got the walls and ceiling all painted now and the sides are now on all the cupboards so it’s starting to actually feel a bit more put together.

Another thing you’ll notice is the table is now installed. Inspired by boat cockpit tables it definitely tested my steady hand with a router and chisel! And the best part was, the table top was free! It’s the left overs of an old pine wardrobe a colleague gave me, we used it to make a bird box for our wedding cards and had some left overs. Not the most durable or favoured by Ellen, but it's lighter than Oak and it’ll do for the time being once I’ve applied some finish.

The other biggy you’ll spot is the shower! We’ve been hard at work (my taping, Ellen’s bulk of the pasting) tanking the shower and installing the drain hole. The tanking acts as a last defence if any water gets past the shower panels so very much worth doing.

I’ve also got the extra 230V lines run in for the Truma boiler/heater and for the stove ignition (hoping it works off the inverter… we shall wait and see, but there’s always a match 😅)

Finally I’ve had a rethink of the garage cupboards and have started to build the water system cupboards which you’ll be able to see with all the water pipes installed ready for the pump.

Hopefully the worktops and cushions/mattress should arrive this week or at least ship. That’s when it will really start to come together. We have the stove and shower and the sink should be arriving soon. Just need to buy a tap, waste pipes, fresh and grey water tanks and shower panels now.

It’s getting close, I can feel it!
