Week 3 - Insulation, Battening, Roofrack
Fair bit to update this week. Firstly, we have gotten the long side rails for the solar roof rack primed, painted black and mounted on the roof rack mounts. This was all going well until the last two holes didn't align with the chassis holes. Typical, but all drilled and sealed up now.
A bulk order of plywood and insulation arrived midweek and so a start has been made on the main wall and ceiling insulation ready for panelling in. 110mm deep in some parts along the walls so we hope it'll be toasty in the winter.
Wall battening is also about 75% of the way there on the now. The alcoves and recessed cupboards are starting to become recognisable and the inner bed rail mounts have been secured with CT1 and RivNuts. Ultimately a nicer pine rail will bolt through the wall skin and inner rail to the rivnuts to be extra secure. (Obligatory picture standing on rails to "Test" load bearing.)
We’ve also gotten the 12v and 230v wiring diagram drawn up and made a start on getting the wiring in place for the upper lights and the maxxfan.
Been rather busy in the evenings this week but the van is now staying pretty toasty without the heater on full time which is a godsend as the weather starts to get colder.
Hopefully we’ll get the rest of the roof rack painted and cut then solar panels mounted and wired up next week. And of course yet more battening and insulation.
