Week 6 - Floor, Walls, Electrics and Seat
Considerable updates this week...
We have a ceiling!
And we have some walls!
And wheel arch boxes!
And the big one… our Vinyl floor is in! Turns out we are terrible at cutting vinyl, but thankfully all of the edges will be hidden eventually, so its not that big a deal.
It’s really starting to feel like a camper now, nice and cosy and warm inside and a nice place to be working now rather than the dimly lit metal shell it was for so many weeks.
The other big change is the double uncomfy bench seat is now gone and we have a single swivel seat installed. I only installed the swivel plate upside the once, and only snapped 3 drill bits in the process!
This week will be finishing off the walls and trimming the bulk head area nicely with a cupboard front and door. Also going to try get the bedside and electrical built in cupboards some push to open doors worked out. And if we have a dry evening I’ll try to get the back doors carpeted, but we shall see how it goes. Need to do that before building in the bed and garage area ideally so watch this space!
Also, another big one this week, the electrics are in and lights and fan are now working! Even had a 230v heater running off the inverter as a test. All fully off grid!
The electrical board (AKA "Spicy Lego") still has some tidying to do with the cables, that'll happen once everything is connected.
Sitting watching the sun charge up the battery remotely whilst at work is becoming an obsession. (Free) Unlimited Power!!
We must say that we are very grateful to the neighbours for putting up with us working on this on our evenings and weekends. In fact most have even wanted to know how it is progressing so we give them a look in every now and then.
Turns out, if you want to meet your neighbours, build a van on your drive!
